The Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) is one of Europe’s leading arbitral institutions, serving as a focal point for the settlement of commercial disputes in the regional and international community.

Founded in 1975 as a department of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (AFEC), VIAC has in recent years enjoyed a steadily increasing caseload from a diverse range of parties spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

VIAC has administered over 1,700 proceedings since its inception and is thereby one of the most experienced arbitration centers in the region. The center benefits from a robust global network of leading arbitrators experienced in international arbitration under the Vienna Rules.

Jus Mundi has partnered with the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) to improve global access to key Austrian municipal decisions relating to arbitration.

Austrian Supreme Court Decisions (in the German language) on arbitration will be selected by expert VIAC staff. These selections will be incorporated into Jus Mundi’s freely accessible and publicly available AI-powered search engine.

English translations of select decisions will be provided by legal professionals from the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP) group, with the aim of enhancing global understanding of Austrian jurisprudence on arbitration matters.

Having Austrian materials incorporated into Jus Mundi’s comprehensive international law and arbitration database will ensure that practitioners and researchers worldwide have improved access to these valuable legal resources.
